Jack Dann in Live Chat
The Victoria Writers' Centre has announced a "cyber chat" entitled The Business of Writing with writer and editor Jack Dann between 19:00 and 20:00 AET on Wednesday 27 September 2000.

Jack will be answering questions ranging from how to find a good agent to coping with public speaking tours. He will also be presenting this seminar again live (in person) on Thursday 7 December from 18:30 AET at the VWC in Fitzroy. Call the centre for bookings on +61 3 9415 1077. Jack’s latest is the recently-released Bad Medicine, from Flamingo.

The VWC is part of the mc2 project to give community groups access to online facilities such as forums and live chat, and potential attendees are advised that participation in the chat requires pre-registration.


Jack Dann Delivers Anthology and Novel
Jack Dann and Gardner Dozois have delivered Geometry, the latest in their Magic Tales series of anthologies, to Ginjer Buchanan at Ace. Meanwhile, his new novel Bad Medicine (previously announced as Counting Coup) will be published by HarperCollins Australia in August.

Jack Dann in Person
Jack Dann will be the featured speaker at Martin's Books' literary dinner on 17 May at the Manhattan Bistro, Toorak Rd., Toorak, Melbourne Victoria, and at the Melbourne Science Fiction Club on Friday 26 May. He will also be the toastmaster at Convergence 2002, the Australian National Science Fiction Convention to be held in Melbourne.

Dann Sells New Short Novel
Jack Dann has sold new short novel "The Diamond Pit" to Gordon Van Gelder at The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Dreaming Down-Under Sold to the US
Jack Dann and Janeen Webb have sold US reprint rights to their World Fantasy Award winning anthology Dreaming Down-Under to Tor Books. Tor will publish Dreaming Down-Under as a trade paperback in late 2000/early 2001.

Dann To Co-Edit Davidson
Jack Dann and Grania Davidson Davis has sold Everybody Has Somebody In Heaven, a collection of Avram Davidson's Jewish fantasy writing, to Pitspopony Press, based in New York and Israel for a late 2000 publication.

Dann's "Marilyn" Adapted for Audio
Jack Dann's radio play Marilyn or the Monster, was released on the Internet by the Seeing Ear Theatre, part of US cable channel The Sci-Fi Channel. Marilyn or the Monster, an adaptation of Dann's original story "Marilyn" which has been sold to Eidolon and will be reprinted in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, was co-authored with Brian Smith and features actor John Heard. Part 1 of the play can be downloaded now, with Part 2 to follow on 17 December 1999.

Dreaming Down-Under Wins World Fantasy Award
Jack Dann and Janeen Webb became the first Australian recipients of the World Fantasy Award, when the Awards were presented in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday 7 November. Silent on the 4th of July
Jack Dann will give a short reading and discuss his latest book, Civil War novel The Silent, on Sunday 4 July 1999 at 2pm at Border's Books and Music, 500 Chapel Street, South Yarra. There will be Civil War games, re-enactors in period costume, and historic memorobilia.
